740 Park
They say she bought the penthouse without ever stepping inside. A collector of stories more than objects, she only asked, “Does it face the park?” It did. And so the contract was signed. The real work began in the master bath. She didn’t want a bathroom, she wanted a sanctuary — something not seen since the days when Park Avenue was young, when the Waldorf’s ballrooms gleamed and Fitzgerald wrote his parties. But it couldn’t be nostalgic, it had to be alive. That’s when she found Park Avenue Luxury, the quiet atelier in Vinci, Italy. No website shop, no showroom theatrics — just sketches, legno, brass, and the murmurs of craftsmen who knew how to bend time. They drew her a vanity with curves like a Deco martini glass, soft but sharp. The sink was carved from a single block of aqua quartzite, its edges kissed by hand, not machine. The mirror was set in a layered framed and inlaid with a delicate motif borrowed from the Chrysler Building. The shower cabin matched. And the sanctuary was completed with matching lights, a “Princess” resting chair, and the famous brass duck . When it was finally installed, guests whispered. Not about the view — though it stretched from Harlem to the Battery — but about the bath. It wasn’t a room; it was a time machine. Art Deco met Tuscany without ever colliding. Morning light caught the stone, and for a brief moment, one couldn’t tell if they were in Florence or Manhattan.
